Setup: OpenCV on OS X using Homebrew

It is the spring of 2016 and computer vision is in the air. I have spent some time trying to get OpenCV applications written in C++ running on my MacBook. It was not as straight forward as I had hoped, so I made this guide to help you get going with OpenCV faster than I did.

Arduino - RGB LED

In almost every project I make, I need the Arduino to respond to me when something happens. If you are debuging, you can easily use the serial monitor or a LCD screen. If your project has different modes or if there are more than one outcome, you may want to use something like a RGB LED. You probably now how to use a regular LED allready, and a RGB LED is not that much harder to use.

Controlling a lamp using PC or Android

I have been searching for a 230V AC dimmer that I can control using a microcontroller, but I still haven't find any. What I wanted to do was to make the ceiling lamp fade on to wake me up in the morning. Basically I wanted to do the same as the wake up lights produced by companies such as Philips, but I wanted to use the ceiling lamp since it is allready installed. Unfortunatelly I ended up using a simple relay to make the lights go on and off, although it's not that spectacular. I found out that the most convenient thing to do was to set a wake up time and sleep time using my phone. This made it a whole lot easier to change the wake up time, and this also let med control the state of the light by just pressing a button on the phone. I now want to show you how you can do the exact same thing.

Arduino - JY-MCU Bluetooth

A while back I got a package from Dealextreme with a JY-MCU Arduino Bluetooth Wireless Serial Port Module. This bluetooth device is both cheap and easy to use, and I will now show you how to get it up and running. Later on I will show you how to wirelessly control your lamps using your computer or android device.

Arduino - Sparkfun 9DOF IMU Sensor Stick

I got Sparkfuns 9 Degrees of Freedom IMU a few days ago, and it seems to be working quite well. I have got readings from all of the three sensors, but I left the filtering and rotation algorithms for later. This is just a short introduction on how to get your IMU up and running.

Arduino - IR Proximity Sharp GP2Y0A02YK0F

Today I received one of two packages from Sparkfun I have been waiting for. As I opened the box, I found an IR Proximity Sharp GP2Y0A02YK0F sensor. It was a bit smaller than expected, but then again all products I have ever received from Sparkfun are smaller than I first thought. In the box I also found a jumper wire with a 3 pin JST connector. I ordered this to make it easier to connect the sensor to my Arduino Uno. Lets see how it works...

Initializing...

I'm trying to create a good CSS configuration for my blog, so I can be satisfied with at least one thing before I start posting something useful...
